Minister of Agriculture (Minister of Agriculture) Andi Amran Sulaiman said the government opened opportunities for exports and investment in agricultural commodities to Brazil. This is a very big opportunity as Brazil does not limit the commodities that it wants to export. Therefore, the government is optimistic that the volume of Indonesian food exports to Brazil can increase. Because, the Brazilian government agreed to accept Indonesian agricultural commodities such as zalacca, swallow’s nest, pineapple and other commodities.
“The Samba country opens opportunities for domestic agricultural strategic commodities. “Some of our strategic commodities such as salak (zalacca), mangosteen and others are alowed to export to Brazil,” Andi Amran Sulaiman said in a press release received on Monday (20/5).
Until now, Indonesia’s exports to Brazil are recorded at US $ 300 million per year. Most of the exports are still contributed by palm oil commodities. In addition to exports, the government invites Brazil to invest in Indonesia, especially in agricultural sector. This purpose is to reduce production costs and improve the welfare of farmers. One of the collaborations explored was the development of a sugar factory. Brazil is the largest sugar producer in the world. This cooperation is expected to increase investment and transfer of technology for processing Indonesian sugar mills.
“The Brazilian minister said he opened to processing experience and ready to help. They wanted to transfer their knowledge to Indonesia,” said Andi Amran Sulaiman.
